Holy moly, it's been a while hasn't it? I mean, it hasn't been super duper long but it sure feels like it. This might become some sort of mega-entry at this point. Where do I start. ... Right. It's that month. Happy New Year to all you readers! I haven't really done much except stay home and take care of the animals, but it's went pretty smoothly all things considered. As for last month, it was mostly work work work. But I did splurge quite a bit on some stuff including some games and a HaritoraX 1.1B which I actually just got in the mail recently.
I've especially playing with the latter quite a bit lately and it's been a fair amount of fun. Like, when I first put it on it was euphoria from there. Now I can be a fully expressive 'lil guy in VR. :3 I've been having fun with it, even if the magnetic tracking drifts every now and then. I've heard that it does have some problems with internal bluetooth modules on PCs which, come to think of it, some of my devices have actually been having some connectivity issues with my motherboard's bluetooth lately. I got another set of Wi-Fi antennae that sit on a magnetic base so I could stick it on my filing cabinet and the Bluetooth has been working better since. I may need to take more time to re-calibrate the gyroscopic sensors to reduce the drifting but this is the kind of affordable full-body tracking experience I'd been seeking.
So, work. My schedule has been ramping up and my feet have been taking the brunt of it. Thankfully the Holiday rush has passed for the most part, so it has started easing a little bit. My financial situation has been good too; been able to build up my savings for the future. Leaning more into my hobbies. It's a little weird though because my art output has kind of stagnated lately, or so I think. Tbh it's been kind of difficult getting into coding or anything else lately.
Let's talk about something of lighter note, though... Well, I'm going to see the two Gurren Lagann movies, Childhood's End and The Lights in Sky are Stars, in 4DX this month. It's probably as close as I'm going to get to seeing Promare in 4DX and tbh, I can't complain. Also the anime was a big part of my teenhood, so getting to see a recap like this in a theatrical format that also makes you feel the action? Consider my autism fulfilled. I will get this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have Kamina suplex me from my chair and exclaim at me "Who do you think I am?!" :)
Anyways, while I'm on the topic of anime, I did get to see a certain Ghibli film a couple weekends ago by surprise; I was invited out to see The Boy and the Heron by one of my relatives during Thanksgiving Day. It was a good film; loved how detailed and fluid the animation was, in addition to the storytelling. The ways it expressed its themes were complex but some of them might feel a little familiar and they even drew some autobiographical parallels. The settings are fantastical and immersive. It felt like a Ghibli film while also not feeling so much like one. Even if you don't manage to catch it theatrically, I'd recommend getting it on DVD/Blu-Ray once it comes out.
With that aside, I've been putting more work toward this site very slowly. My current plan for this year is to not only provide some minor enhancements to this blog but also provide the blog on my legacy website, dream.sertimus.xyz, so that my webspace is more accessible to those who wish to view my site from a legacy browser, even from a retro console like the Dreamcast. I just can't guarantee it'll work on Saturn's NetLink since there may be some features on the site that were considered non-standard at the time.
I guess that's about all I have to say here. I'll close this by saying that this year has definitely had a lot of ups and downs. Mental and physical health have been pretty mixed, but I'm in a better financial situation than I was before. Hoping 2024 will be better. Thanks and hope you all are having a good 2024 as well. :>
